Counseling
Because you will be putting a good deal of time, money, and energy into therapy, you should choose a therapist carefully. I strongly believe you should feel comfortable with the therapist you choose, and hopeful about the therapy. My theoretical approach is based on a Solution-Focused approach, but also on other modalities as well. Solution-Focused brief therapists believe that it is easier and more profitable to construct solutions than to dissolve problems.
It is up to each of us to take control of our lives and make the journey a sweet and valuable one. – Diana Ross MemoirsIt is also easier to repeat already successful patterns than it is to try to stop or change existing problematic behavior. Furthermore, they believe that activities that center on finding solutions are distinctively different than problem-solving activities. In addition, Solution-Focused therapy views human life as a continuously changing process. You will be the expert on what you want to change in your life and your own authority on how to make those changes happen. The goal then, is to get out of therapy what you want to achieve. The primary risk of counseling is that the process may involve discussing problems or life events that may evoke unpleasant feelings. If this occurs it is important to let me know so that I can help you deal effectively with those concerns.
